Aberdeen

ABERDEEN

home of Scotland’s oldest daily paper

and Annie Lennox.

Population of 215 000 – third largest city in Scotland.

In this bustling metropolis, where you can walk from one side of the CBD to the other without leaving a shopping mall or stroll down to the beach in just 20 minutes, the gentle way of life is threatened by an aggressive population of seagulls.

Aberdeen is known as the Silver City by the Golden Sands (also the name of my latest mills and boon novel) due to its famous buildings made of granite. It could also be called Beach-side Grey-town. Or Grey-upon-sea. But it is, in fact, not called either of these things.

Birthplace of the self-seal envelope Aberdeen is also home to over 40 millionaires who won their fortune in the National Lottery.

Despite the picturesque Balmoral Castle, (where numerous films were set but not shot), Aberdeen was awarded the Plook on a Plinth award for the most dismal town. (NB Plook is the Scottish word for Pimple).

Aberdeen has a distinct whiff of the Hobart about it – a seaside city in the furthermost pocket of its country, a very old and magnificent theatre, a university, picturesque views, beaches close to the CBD and a lot of ghost stories. You can tell these two cities apart because Aberdeen has a hedge maze and Hobart has a wooden maze.

Spot the difference!
